10 things you must know for maintaining Huawei Access Network

Someone has problems about daily operation and maintenance of access network product when they buying Huawei Access Network products.

Q.What is the default password of OLT?
A. • The default user name and password of the MA5800 are root and admin123.
• The default user name and password of the MA5600T are changed from root and admin to root and admin123 from V800R017C00. To enhance security, you are advised to change the password upon your first login.
Note:The Huawei OLT products include MA5800 series, EA5800 series, MA5801, EA5801, MA5600T, MA5603T and MA5608T.

Q. What are the default password of MDU?
A. The default user name and password of the MDU:
• Before V800R017C00 version: root/mduadmin
• V800R017C00 and later version: root/admin123
To enhance security, you are advised to change the password upon your first login.

Q. How to log in to OLT?
A. You can log into OLT in these ways:
• Login Through the Local Serial Port
• Login Through Telnet (Outband Management)
• Login Through Telnet (Inband Management)
• Login Through SSH (Outband Management)
• Login Through SSH (Inband Management)

Q. How to change the default password?
A. You can use the terminal user password command to change the default password.

Q. What to do if the password is lost?
A. • The password of a non-root user is lost.
The root user has the right of changing the password of a non-root user. If the password of a non-root user is lost, contact the root user and make the root user run the terminal user password command to change the password.
Change the password of the user logging in to the system using CLI on the NMS.
• The password of the root user is lost.
Change the password of the root user logging in to the system using CLI on the NMS.
If the administrator or the user having higher priority can log in to the system, save and back up the configuration file and delete the command for setting the password of the root user from the configuration file. Then, load the modified configuration file and activate it to restart the system so as to restore the default password of the root user. After that, log in to the system using the root user name and the restored password, change the password, and save the data.

Q. How long it is locked when the password is entered incorrectly for the count of failure_times?
A. You can use system lock interval command to configure the lock interval for the user and the terminal IP address. the default value is 15min.

Q. How to add an OLT to U2000?
A. This topic considers the iManager U2000 Network Management System (referred to as the U2000) as an example to describe how to perform the interconnection commissioning between the U2000 and the MA5800 in the inband mode and the outband mode. SNMPv3 has higher security than SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c. Therefore, it is recommended.
You can add an OLT to U2000 in these ways:
• Commissioning Outband Network Management (SNMP V1 and V2)
• Commissioning Outband Management (SNMP V3)
• Commissioning Inband Management (SNMP V1 and V2)
• Commissioning Inband Network Management (SNMP V3)

Q. How to add an MDU to an OLT?
A. Here is a method to add ONU to OLT, you can refer to this method to add MDW to OLT.
Add ONU to OLT you have to:
Step 1 Configure GPON ONU profiles.
– Configure a DBA profile.
– Configure an ONU line profile.
– (Optional) Add an alarm profile.
Step 2 Add an ONU to an OLT
Step 3 Check the ONU status.
After an ONU is added, run the display ont info command to query the current status of the
ONU. Ensure that Config flag of the ONU is active, Run State is online, and Config state is
Normal.

Q. How to restore configuration data?
A. The load data command is used to load the backup database file. Then reboot the system.

Q. How to reset the OLT/MDU to factory defaults?
A. This post explains the process of how to reset the OLT/MDU to factory defaults. Please read further down for details.
First of all, you need to do this locally, not remotely. If you do it remotely, that device will not be accessed remotely again – it will be out of management.
Secondly, before erasing the configuration, please save and back up the current configuration.
Thirdly, connect to the device via the COM port and execute the erase flash data and reboot system commands.
